Ryan Gilligan is a mixer, recording engineer, and producer based in Los Angeles. In 2007, Ryan spent one year working full time as Busta Rhymes' chief engineer, traveling around the country to engineer collaborations between Busta and other artists and producers including Pharrell, Akon, Lil Wayne, and DJ Khaled. From late 2007 thru 2012, Ryan mentored under top mixer Michael Brauer at Quad and Electric Lady Studios in NYC. Following a successful five year working relationship, he and Michael established Michael’s new Hybrid Mix Room at Electric Lady. There, Ryan worked as Michael's Mix Engineer, mixing songs himself with Michael’s guidance, and working directly with the clients throughout the entire mixing process. Some of the highlights of Ryan’s time with Michael include working with Coldplay, Grizzly Bear, John Mayer, Patti Smith, Shakira, Cibo Matto, Regina Spektor, Colbie Caillat, Dave Matthews, The Bravery, Young the Giant, Grouplove, Christina Perri, and many others. After relocating to LA in late 2014, Ryan spent one year as chief engineer for Grammy-nominated producer John Hill, whose clients during this time included Gwen Stefani, Charli XCX, Florence and the Machine, Kiesza, AlunaGeorge, Banks & Steelz, and Santigold. As a freelancer, Ryan has worked with artists including Kanye West, Nas, Solange Knowles, DJ Mustard, Twin Shadow, Wu-Tang, Kevin Garrett, and Never Shout Never; and begun writing and producing more original music with artists in the LA area. He was awarded three Grammy certificates for work done with John Mayer, Kanye West, and Calle 13.
